SITE UNSEEN

In Idea Art, a deliberately “open” idea may be realized in different ways by different artists. The idea itself is site-nonspecific almost by definition. Environmental Art, whether in the form of an installation, performance, or other kind of artwork, is inseparable from its site.

By partnering geographically isolated Idea and Environmental artists in long-distance, reciprocal collaborations, SITE UNSEEN reexamines traditional notions of collaboration and site specificity.

GIVEN TAKE, at THE LAND's environmental art site, and a companion show the THE LAND/gallery, TAKE BACK, constitute the first exhibition phase of this ongoing project.
